Meredith's first prototype didn't attract the start-up funds she was looking for, until she met Scott Nolan, the member of Founders Fund. With a group of investors she received $750,000 as the initial start-up investment. Today uBeam holds a large number of patents, and very powerful group of venture capitalists, including Mark Cuban, who's invested $10 million dollars last year.
Soon, outlets will be replaced by 5 millimeter thin uBeam charging trasmitters. The product is planned to be available on the market within less than 2 years. Cords and wires will become an annoying inconvenience of the past. We are starting to see the end of the tripping hazard era. And not just that - the batteries will shrink significantly in size, thus reducing environmental effects associated with their disposal.
